The Mutual Fund and Hedge Fund Act, 2008 (Act 10 of 2008) sets out the guidelines pertaining to the application and licensing of mutual funds and other collective investment entities. Mutual fund is administered by a person holding a Seychelles fund administrator’s license; and which is incorporated or otherwise established and domiciled outside Seychelles. Professional Fund is made available to either a highly experienced professional investors/high net worth investors, with the initial minimum investment per investor being USD 100,000 or the equity interests are listed on a stock exchange of a recognized jurisdiction. Professional investors include Recognized Banks, Mutual Funds, Insurance Companies, Securities dealers, etc. An investor must sign a declaration confirming that he meets these criteria and consenting to be treated as a professional investor for the purposes of the Act.
